Mediation

Collaborative Law is a voluntary, private, and client-centered process for resolving family law disputes for parties who are committed to avoiding litigation and the adversarial divorce process.

Collaborative Law uses a team approach and facilitates negotiation through a series of structured meetings, where the goals and interests of each party (as opposed to their legal entitlements) are uncovered and communicated to the other.

Collaborative Law relies on each participant (clients as well as team members) to proceed with honesty, respect, and integrity towards a resolution that is mutually agreeable and will provide the best possible outcome for both parties.

Team Members

Collaborative Attorneys
Each party has her/his own attorney who guides and supports the client through the collaborative process with the goal of finding workable solutions that are in the best interests of both parties. Both attorneys are prevented from further assistance if the case proceeds to litigation.

Coaches
Each party has a trained mental health professional who provides support and encouragement and helps parties communicate in a constructive, positive manner.

Child Specialist
A neutral professional whose role is to “speak for the children” and help parents create plans for parenting based on the needs and best interests of the children.

Financial Specialist
A licensed financial professional who gathers and analyzes the parties’ financial data to assist them in making decisions regarding income and debt allocation and property division.

“In helping clients decide which process to pursue, I look at the parties’ legal issues, their relationship dynamics, emotional needs, and financial constraints. I believe educating my clients about their options empowers them during this major life transition.”
